Position Summary:
We’re looking for someone with passion to play a key leadership role in operations and assist in the management of the production unit. If you have strong leadership in a unionized environment, quality assurance and or production experience, this is an opportunity to take your career to the next level.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ability to take our customer’s experience to the next level.
• Ensures quality and food safety standards are always met or exceeded.
• Responsible for safety, quality and compliance to customer specifications and regulatory requirements and company policies and procedures.
• Champions employee safety without compromise.
• Manages daily manpower planning including assignment of responsibilities and workstations.
• Responsible for evaluating employee performance, coaching and corrective action for employees and liaises as required with HR and other support functions.
• Trains and monitors employees on proper work procedures to ensure maximum productivity with minimum labour and food costs.
• Always looks for ways to minimize labour and material cost.
• Works closely with all internal customers & suppliers to continuously improve the overall supply chain.
• Works with the leadership team toward a unified goal.
• Administrative tasks including creation of requisitions, production sheets, HACCP documentation, shift reports etc.
Education:
• Quality Assurance, operations management program would be an asset.
Work Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of leadership experience in a high volume, fast paced food production environment
• Production planning experience a plus
• Quality Assurance and or health and safety experience a plus
Job Skills:
• Strong and effective leadership skills with the ability to successfully manage a staff of 20+ employees
• Ability to train and mentor others
• Must have the ability to give constructive feedback to employees daily
• Ability to communicate clearly and effectively
• Able to balance multiple objectives in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
• Strong organizational & analytical skills
• Ability to create a production plan & execute that plan
• Must be innovative and have the ability to make changes to the operation as needed to further improve the work environment and unit performance
• Basic computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office products
• Knowledge of SAP a plus
Travel:
• Minimal
Successful candidate will be required to pass a criminal check and Transport Canada employment verification check for all employers within the last 5 years.
